Complex adaptive systems: a tool for interpreting responses and behaviours.
BACKGROUND Quality improvement is a priority for health services worldwide. There are many barriers to implementing change at the locality level and misinterpreting responses and behaviours can effectively block change. Electronic health records will influence the means by which knowledge and information are generated and sustained among those operating quality improvement programmes. OBJECT...
متن کاملNetLogo HotLink Replay: a tool for exploring, analyzing and interpreting mathematical change in complex systems
Some of the most important patterns of change that we encounter in our everyday world – global warming, fluctuations in the unemployment rate, voter trends – are produced by the interactions and accumulation of many different individuals and events. This interactive poster will demonstrate NetLogo HotLink Replay, a computational tool designed to provide students a context to reconcile large-sca...
متن کاملA Framework for Complex Adaptive Systems
In this paper, we provide a general purpose simulation framework for complex adaptive systems. Our framework will deal with a number of important criteria including self-organization, emergence, and others. We then show that the framework can capture the common underlying structure of complex adaptive systems through demonstrating its application in specific biological domains.
متن کاملOMACS a Framework for Adaptive, Complex Systems
This chapter introduces a suite of technologies for building complex, adaptive systems. It is based in the multi-agent systems paradigm and uses the Organization Model for Adaptive Computational Systems (OMACS). OMACS defines the knowledge needed about a system’s structure and capabilities to allow it to reorganize at runtime in the face of a changing environment and its agent’s capabilities. H...
متن کاملA Goal Model for Adaptive Complex Systems
Goal based systems have seen increasing interest in complex, adaptive systems. While there are a number of approaches to eliciting goal-based requirements and to using goals at runtime, there are no frameworks that use goals for requirements while providing a direct mapping to goals used to drive the system at runtime. The Goal Model for Dynamic Systems (GMoDS) presented in this paper allows a ...
